Hi from W2IBC

  • Hello from W2IBC in Indiana. Don't know German but google translate is a help.

    got to give a thanks to DL1HRC for the "Different Roger Beep's" mod. I do like that mod. Kinda wonder if it could be modified even more to give different courtesy tones for RX1 RX2 Echolink and NetRX

    anyway hopefully I can get my svxlink working good again and find a spot for my repeater to get it back on air again, until then I get to play away on the bench local

    Yes there is a way to identify different Rx's and Network-Station but unfortunately not to distinguish Network-Stations (via LogicLinking) and EchoLink-stations (currently). The example changes the tone high depending of the RxID in this way: 440Hz + RXID * 120Hz,
    - RX 0 -> 440Hz
    - RX 1 -> 560Hz
    - RX 2 -> 680 Hz
    ...

    Have fun, good luck

  • Ah good deal. I actually use multi tones. to create different types of beeps.

    my current config.

    RF = nextel beep
    Net = Morse K

    I like having distinct sound :lol:

    one strange thing I have noticed is /usr/share/svxlink/events.d/local
    now the rogerbeep mod works. however my other mods don't for some reason.
    got one file that should mute out the "do-do" tone as tx turns off.
    "proc repeater_down {reason} {" in repeaterlogic.tcl

    and proc is_receiving {rx} and proc squelch_open {is_open} in echolink.tcl (they both send a 1000hz tone for 100ms when sig drops out or in.)

    Is there a certain naming you have to do in the event.d/local to make svxlink catch it? or am I stuck having to modify the main tcl and have to keep doing it on each new version?

    This is a section in the RepeaterLogic-namespace, the procedure is named repeater_down {reason}

    The "do-do" is given out every time the repeater is going down between the normal prescribed identification cycle (as morse code oder voice announcements), in Germany every 10minutes.

    Comment out a section inside this procedure like this:

    Code
    if {$now-$Logic::prev_ident < $Logic::min_time_between_ident} {
    #  playTone 400 90 50
    #  playSilence 30
    #  playTone 360 90 50
    #  playSilence 200
        return;
    }

    Please keep in mind that you don't change the original files inside the /usr/share/svxlink/events.d-directory !
    Remember the locale concept! Otherwise all made changes are lost when you conduct a "make install"!!

  • yeah I had a files in /usr/share/*/*/local/ which houses the roger beep tcl. which works fine. but my other 2 mods in local didn't work.

    /usr/share/svxlink/events.d/local/RepeaterDown.tcl

    is what I had, but good chance I was doing something wrong

    Also I am using debian packages Felix Lechner has submitted to debian to be included in the repo. (repo installs are just so much nicer)

    Ended up with pc issues. so i got to grab another machine and reinstall. hopefully can get this all going again.
